The first version of Bitter Crown was smaller than the final song. One guitar, one drum pattern, and a vocal melody recorded late enough that the room had stopped making suggestions.

The track grew by subtraction. We took away the safe parts, left the gaps audible, and let the low end carry the feeling that the arrangement could collapse at any moment.

What stayed was the shape of the song: a steady climb into a chorus that feels less like arrival and more like choosing to continue. That became the centre of the record.
